Who we are

GuildGamer at guildgamer.com is published by Guild Gamer. For anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete what we hold, write to contact@guildgamer.com. That address reaches the person responsible for data protection here directly.

The short version

As it stands today, this site sets no cookies and makes no third-party requests at all. No analytics, no advertising, no embedded players, no fonts fetched from someone else's server. Every page you load talks to exactly one host, and the only thing kept about you is whatever your request already had to reveal to be answered. We do not ask you to register, we do not build a profile, and we do not sell personal data.

What we collect

Before you choose

• Server and network logs. Our hosting provider records the request: IP address, user agent, the page requested and a timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site up. We rely on legitimate interest for it, and it cannot be switched off without switching off the site.
• Your consent choice. Once you answer the banner, the answer is stored in your own browser. See the section below.

Only after you accept

Nothing, at present. No analytics tool and no advertising network is deployed on this site, so pressing Accept currently unlocks no additional collection whatsoever. The consent banner is live ahead of them so that the default is already denied on the day one is introduced, rather than being retrofitted afterwards.

When that changes, this section will name the provider, the data it receives and the storage it sets before it is switched on, and this page's "last updated" date will move. A policy that describes tools a site does not run is not a stricter policy, it is an inaccurate one.

Only if you ask for it

• Newsletter. If you submit the signup form in the footer we store the email address you typed, the date, and which form it came from. That is the whole record. There is no third-party newsletter provider: the list is a single table in our own database on the same infrastructure that serves the site, so the address is not passed to anyone in order to hold it. Every send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the row rather than flagging it, so we do not keep a suppression list either. The list is never sold, rented or shared.
• Email you send us. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful to keep, then delete it.

How consent actually works here

This is worth spelling out, because most policies are vague about it and ours does not need to be.

• Google Consent Mode v2 signals are set to denied in the page head, before any other script can run. That covers ad storage, analytics storage, ad user data and ad personalisation.
• On your first visit a banner offers Accept and Decline, plus a link to the cookie policy. It is one choice covering all four signals together. There are no per category toggles today.
• Your answer is written to your browser's local storage under the key gg-consent as either granted or denied. It stays in your browser. It is not sent to us as an identifier.
• If your browser blocks storage, nothing is recorded and the banner asks again next visit. We never treat a failure to record as consent.
• Serving personalised advertising to visitors in the EEA and the UK also requires a Google-certified TCF v2.2 consent platform. None is connected, and none is needed yet, because no advertising is served. One has to be in place before the first ad impression, not after it.

Legal bases

• Consent for analytics, advertising and the newsletter.
• Legitimate interest for security logging, abuse prevention and keeping the service running.

Who else receives data

One party: Cloudflare, Inc., our hosting and content delivery provider, which processes every request because it is the server answering it. No advertising network and no analytics provider receives anything, because none is deployed. We do not sell personal data, and there is currently no data sharing that any jurisdiction could construe as a sale. If an advertising partner is ever introduced, it will be named here and in the cookie policy before it is switched on.

Transfers outside your country

Cloudflare operates a global network, so your request is answered by whichever of its data centres is nearest you and may be processed outside your home country, including in the United States. Cloudflare publishes the transfer mechanisms it relies on, including Standard Contractual Clauses, in its own data processing addendum at cloudflare.com/cloudflare-customer-dpa. Because no other processor is involved, that is the entire transfer picture.

How long we keep things

• Server and network logs: held by Cloudflare under its own retention schedule. We do not export them, aggregate them or keep a copy of our own.
• Analytics: not applicable. Nothing is collected, so nothing is retained.
• Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.
• Your consent choice: until you clear your browser storage.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, ask for it in a portable form, withdraw consent at any time, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Write to contact@guildgamer.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. The newsletter is the only thing here that accepts personal data at all, and it is not offered to anyone under 16, or under the lower age their own country sets where it sets one — that is 13 in the United States and in several EU member states. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to contact@guildgamer.com and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and say what changed. Checking back occasionally is the only notification we can offer, since we do not hold an address for most readers.
