Cookie policy
What gets stored in your browser, when, and how to undo it. Consent starts at denied and only moves when you press Accept.
Categories
| Category | Purpose | When it is set |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Serving the page, security and abuse prevention, set by our hosting provider. | Set without consent |
| Consent record | Remembering whether you accepted or declined. Local storage, not a cookie. | Written only when you answer |
| Analytics | Counting visits and working out which articles get read. | Only after you accept |
| Advertising | Serving, frequency capping and measuring the ads that pay for the site. | Only after you accept |
How the banner behaves
-
Before you answer, Google Consent Mode v2 is set to
deniedfor ad storage, analytics storage, ad user data and ad personalisation. Those defaults are written in the page head ahead of every other script, so nothing can fire underneath them. - The banner offers Accept, Decline and a Manage link that brings you to this page. It is a single choice covering all four signals. There is no per category switch yet, and this page will not pretend there is.
-
Your answer is saved in this browser's local storage under the key
gg-consent, asgrantedordenied. Local storage has no expiry date, so it stays until you clear it. - If your browser blocks storage, for example in a private window, nothing is saved and the banner appears again next time. Consent is never assumed from silence.
Changing your answer
There is no preference centre on this page yet, because we would rather point you at something that works than at a switch that does nothing. To reset your choice, clear this site's data in your browser:
- Chrome and Edge: Settings, Privacy and security, Third party cookies, See all site data, then remove guildgamer.com.
- Firefox: Settings, Privacy and Security, Cookies and Site Data, Manage Data, then remove guildgamer.com.
- Safari: Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data, then remove guildgamer.com.
The banner returns on your next page load and the state starts again at denied.
There is no preference centre widget here yet because there is nothing for it to govern. Serving personalised ads to readers in the EEA and the UK requires a Google-certified TCF v2.2 platform; none is connected, and until one is, this site cannot and does not do that.
Third parties
None, today. No advertising network and no analytics provider is deployed on this site, so accepting the banner currently causes no third-party storage to be set, because there is no third party to set it. You can verify that in your own browser's network panel: every request a page makes goes to guildgamer.com.
The one exception is our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., which may set strictly necessary cookies for security regardless of your answer. Those are exempt from consent because the site cannot be served safely without them.
When an advertising or analytics partner is introduced, it will be named here, with a link to its own policy, before it is switched on rather than after.
Embedded video and social posts, where an article contains one, are loaded from the platform that hosts them and can set their own storage. We note this in the article when it applies.
Browser level controls
Every major browser can block or delete cookies, and most can send a Global Privacy Control signal. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site working. Blocking everything else costs you nothing as a reader.
What we do with the data once it is collected is set out in the privacy policy.
